OUR STORY

The foundation of Cosma Sustainable Rural Development was built on the unwavering commitment of one man—the late Cosma, a compassionate father and community leader who dedicated his life to uplifting orphaned and vulnerable children.

In 2000, after witnessing the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in his village, Cosma saw children left without basic needs—education, healthcare, and proper support. Determined to make a difference, he took on the role of a guardian, personally supporting 16 children by providing school fees, supplies, and mentorship. Among them was Denis, who, thanks to Cosma’s support, became a medical doctor and later opened up his own health center to serve his community. His inspiring journey underscores COSMA’s dedication to creating lasting, transformative change in the lives of individuals and families impacted by poverty.

When Cosma passed away in 2003, his son, Charles Nsambya, carried on his father’s mission with the same dedication and passion. Under Charles’ leadership, the initiative grew from a Community-Based Organization to a Nonprofit Organization, expanding beyond their home village to serve communities across Sembabule District and beyond.

Prosperous and self-reliant rural communities in Uganda.

GOAL

To empower rural communities in Uganda by providing educational sponsorships and equipping farmers with the skills and resources to sustainably produce and profit from agriculture. Through these efforts, we aim to enhance livelihoods and expand access to essential social services, including education and healthcare, fostering long-term community resilience and self-sufficiency.
