COSMA’s Agricultural Empowerment Program is dedicated to uplifting rural Ugandan farmers, with a particular focus on empowering women, who represent 70% of the agricultural workforce. Despite their essential role, women face significant barriers such as limited access to land, credit, training, and the compounded challenges of climate change, poor inputs, and market access.Our program is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by empowering farmers to transition from subsistence farming to thriving commercial agriculture. At the heart of our approach is the Village Cooperative Model, which unites farming households into cohesive cooperatives. This fosters collaboration, maximizes access to resources, and creates a powerful synergy within the community.We provide comprehensive training and education to help farmers adopt modern, sustainable agricultural practices that boost productivity. In addition, we supply high-quality inputs, financial resources, and improved market access, ensuring that farmers can increase crop yields, optimize farm efficiency, and ultimately achieve greater economic stability and higher incomes.By integrating local resources and empowering farmers with the necessary tools, knowledge, and financial support, our program works to increase agricultural production, improve household incomes, and generate long-term economic benefits for rural communities.
